Computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools
Computer-assisted translation (CAT) involves various tools that help us to keep track of and save our clients’ specific terminology as well as their internal and external language usage preferences to use in future assignments for them. These CAT tools – which have term databases and so-called translation memories where previously translated text is stored as reference material – help us to ensure that our technical document translations are always consistent, use the latest industry terminology, and adhere to the clients’ preferences in terms of word choice and style.
Using CAT tools is also a way to achieve shorter lead times and keep costs down in language translation.
